Chair BCN

BCN by ENEA is a stackable chair with armrests, in an oval chrome tubular structure, or painted in two coats of heavy-duty paint. The seat and backrest are manufactured in polyester-fibreglass and upholstered in leather or fabric. A writing tablet can be incorporated as an optional possibility. Placing importance on the relationship between the object and the human body, this chair has managed to achieve the difficult balance between ergonomics, form and constructive rationalisation, in addition to its complete functional versatility that is achieved by the different versions. Its application in installations has led to a fixed composition ?tandem? version with integrated side tables. The BCN low bench version has been conceived basically for use in public facilities that are exposed to a lot of pedestrian traffic. The design has tried to resolve some of the problems presented by this kind of seating at the end of the 1980s, such as aspects related with innovation and aesthetics. Starting out from the initial structure of the BCN chair, in other words, the backrest and seat, research and development was carried out on a structure capable of supporting up to a maximum of six seats. The final result was reached taking into consideration factors such as volume, dimensions, functionality, ergonomics, safety, durability, comfort or low maintenance: a longitudinal bar in oval tubular steel was used to improve the anchoring system of the seat and backrest. Two cast aluminium legs are positioned at the ends, while the seat and backrest are fixed to this bar using a "spinal column" also in cast aluminium. Any of the seat-backrest units can be replaced by a side table in polyester, lacquered wood or granite.
